Became an MW 1998

Based in United Kingdom

Sally Easton is a passionate educator, freelance journalist and author. For nearly a decade prior to setting up her own freelance business, she bought wine across a spectrum of businesses, including for sharply technical bulk shipper and UK bottler Kingsland; high street staple 'offie' Victoria Wine, and fine wine merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd, heading up the buying team in this latter post. During her time as a wine buyer, she was awarded the Vintner's Cup, which is presented annually to the top Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 4 Diploma in Wines and Spirits (as it was then known) graduate. She dived straight into the MW programme, passing in 1998. As well as writing for trade and consumer press in various countries, and delivering bespoke tasting events, Sally is a certified educator and lecturer for the WSET, for whom she has worked closely for 20 years, in both physical and online classrooms. She also teaches, or has taught, at various other WSET Approved Programme Providers in several countries. It was the WSET who commissioned and published (December 2017) Sally's first book, 'Vines and Vinification', to accompany the coursework for the wine production unit of the diploma. Her book has been twice decorated: it was awarded the OIV (International Organisation for Vine and Wine) award for 2018 in the 'Viticulture and Oenology' category. It was also the UK winner of the Gourmand Awards 2019, in the 'World of Wine - wine professionals' category, and shortlisted for the Gourmand Awards 2019, best in world. Sally was recently a key contributor for the overhaul development project of the WSET Diploma in Wines, which launched in August 2019.
