Trentodoc renews its partnership with the Institute of Masters of Wine

After three years of shared initiatives the Institute of Masters of Wine is pleased to announce that Trentodoc, the organisation representing the appellation for white and rosé sparkling wine from Trentino in Italy, will continue as a Supporter of the IMW.

“We are highly satisfied with the partnership that has already begun and that we can continue, together with the Institute of Masters of Wine, to support the highest professionals in the wine world on a global scale,” commented Enrico Zanoni, President of Istituto Trento Doc.

The partnership between Trentodoc and the IMW – renewed for a further three years – aims to promote the sparkling wine of Trentino and spread the mission of IMW. For Istituto Trento Doc, the renewed partnership is also an opportunity to highlight its commitment to promoting wine culture and ethics in various fields, and supporting the advanced training of professionals on a global scale. A Master of Wine trip to the region is already planned for October 2019, where 20 MWs will have the opportunity to experience the region, discover its labels, meet the producers and gain insight into the realities of working in Trentino.

Penny Richards, Executive Director of the IMW said, “We are so delighted that the IMW has extended its partnership with Trentodoc. We know they will continue to be generous in sharing their knowledge with our students and Masters of Wine, and will also continue to share our values of upholding excellence and communication in the international wine world.”

Founded in 1953, the IMW promotes excellence, interaction and learning across all sectors of the global wine community. Since then fewer than 450 professionals have managed to pass all the MW exams and can be proud of gaining the much coveted title. There are 380 Masters of Wine – ‘MWs’ – working today, in 30 countries. The MWs are winemakers, buyers, journalists, shippers, business owners, consultants, academics, and wine educators. There are 360 students in the 2018-2019 MW study programme – from 45 countries – who are on their journey trying to achieve the prestigious MW title.
