Riedel becomes Major Supporter and official glassware provider to the Institute

The Institute of Masters of Wine and the Austrian glassware manufacturer Riedel Crystal are delighted to announce today that Riedel has become a Major Supporter of the Institute.

Riedel is now the official glassware supplier to the Institute, and will provide glasses worldwide for tastings, Study Programme course days, master classes, and other events. In addition, Riedel will provide all glassware for the Institute’s 8th International Symposium, which is being held in Florence from 15-18 May 2014.

Riedel Crystal is the 250 year old creator of the world’s first grape-specific glassware to enhance the flavour of wine; an innovation that has changed the direction of the industry for good. With an unquestioned pre-eminence in the world of wine and a growing reputation as makers of outstanding glasses from which to enjoy spirits, the brand has become a byword for the philosophy on which they have built their success: form follows function.

Commenting on the announcement, Maximilian J. Riedel, 11th generation CEO of Riedel Crystal (pictured above), said:

“After many years of working closely with IMW, we are delighted to be formalising our relationship and to be officially recognised as their first glassware provider. This means we can more pro-actively support the IMW’s efforts in promoting wine education and appreciation worldwide, and further acknowledges Riedel’s unparalleled leadership in grape-specific glassware design.”

Penny Richards, Executive Director of the Institute of Masters of Wine, said:

“The Institute of Masters of Wine and Riedel are venerable organisations that have ensured continued growth and success in the wine industry through a focus on excellence and innovation. Furthering the understanding and appreciation of wine is a goal that we both share. We are very pleased to welcome Riedel officially to our global family of Supporters, and look forward to a productive partnership.”
