Berry Bros. & Rudd becomes Institute Principal Supporter

The Institute of Masters of Wine is delighted to announce that Berry Bros. & Rudd has become a Principal Supporter of the Institute.

Berry Bros. & Rudd joins AXA Millésimes, the Austrian Wine Marketing Board, The Madame Bollinger Foundation and Waitrose as a Principal Supporter.

Berry Bros. & Rudd have long been associated with the Institute, but under their new commitment as a Principal Supporter, they plan to work with the Institute to raise the profile of Masters of Wine in Asia, and encourage new candidates.

With two Royal Warrants, more than 300 years of history and eight Masters of Wine, Berry Bros. & Rudd is Britain’s original wine and spirit merchant. In 1698 the firm first opened its doors for business at No.3 St. James’s Street, and are still proud to call it home.

While much has changed over the years, they are still owned and managed by members of the Berry and Rudd families and continue to supply the British Royal Family, something they have done since the reign of King George III.

Chairman and family member Simon Berry said “Cornerstones of the Berry Bros. & Rudd philosophy are integrity and authority, qualities also exemplified by The Institute of Masters of Wine. Our objectives have long been parallel – often overlapping – but now, as Principal Supporters, we are delighted to be able to pursue our goals together.”

Incoming Chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine Sarah Jane Evans MW said “We are delighted to welcome Berry Bros. and Rudd to our family of supporters worldwide. They share our commitment to the values of excellence, interaction and learning, most obviously by having no less than 8 MWs working in their business. We are especially pleased that they will be partnering us as we expand our activities in Asia.”

Berry Bros. & Rudd today employs the expertise of eight Masters of Wine: Wine Education Specialists Martin Hudson MW and Anne McHale MW, Wine Buyer Simon Field MW, Burgundy Director Jasper Morris MW, Wine Buying Director Mark Pardoe MW, New World Buyer Catriona Felstead MW, Private Wine Events Sales Manager Demetri Walters MW, and Katherine Dart MW in Fields Morris & Verdin (FMV), the firm’s trade and agency arm.
