Entered wine trade on going down from Oxford University in 1971 (member of OU Wine Tasting Team), and after early experience with Moet & Chandon, Harrods, El Vino, OW Loeb and Tanners, established Windrush Wines Ltd.in 1975. In 1993 sold that business and withdrew to concentrate on Savage Selection Ltd., a portfolio of his best small family winegrowers from a wide variety of the world's wine regions. Vintners Scholar in 1975 Recipient of inaugural Ruinart Champagne Bursary Received the Drinks Business Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
