Jan De Clercq started his wine studies at the Bordeaux University where he obtained the "Connaissance de Vin/Degustation" certificate. He then went to Burgundy to complete a two year BTS course "Technico-Commercial en Vins et Spiritueux". Having a special interest in Sherry he went to Jerez for a month to work with Emilio Lustau. He then took over the family company Portovino and expanded the wine portfolio with wines from all over the world. He is also active as an educator, consultant and regional manager.
