Andrew advises wine selections beforehand and most tasters get their hands on the same or similar wines. Each week, in this new age of social distancing ‘info-tainment’, Andrew also interviews a winemaker and includes direct questions from participants.

Susie Barrie MW and Peter Richards MW have recently launched Wine Blast, a podcast series with a magazine-style format. Together they chat with guests from all around the wine world, cook up dishes, go head to head with competitive wine-offs, whizz through wine A-Zs and more. Susie and Peter also present ‘Wine Survival Guides’ as part of the series, which are special episodes enabling wine people to tell their story as events unfold with notes of hope and positivity. Wine Blast is available on all major platforms including Apple podcasts, Spotify and Google.

Alex Hunt MW has selected a broad yet succinct range of wines for Berkmann Wine Cellars’ online wine shop Help 4 Hospitality, an initiative that will see Berkmann donate 12.5% of the order value to the outlet in question. Help 4 Hospitality addresses two needs: access to wine for the public at a time of restricted supply, and revenue for hospitality venues during this period of forced enclosure.

Wine Masters Class series
Christy Canterbury MW, Sarah Heller MW and Liz Thach MW have been announced as the first names of teachers featured in the new Wine Masters Class series, an educational and entertaining video wine course. Each episode is hosted by a Master of Wine and Champion Sommelier who will teach registrants all about regions, grapes, winemaking and food pairings. The series will commence in April 2020, with a new episode available to watch every two weeks over the course of two years.

Anne Krebiehl MW is one of four communicators who have been shortlisted for one of the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC)’s top awards. Wine Communicator of the Year – sponsored by Vinitaly – recognises someone whose communication skills have made an exceptional contribution towards promoting and increasing public awareness in wines in the last 12 months. Anne recently published her first book The Wines of Germany and has written for a number of publications including US Wine Enthusiast, The World of Fine Wine and Decanter.
